A Wonderful Little Appliance.

The other day we bought a new rice cooker. (That kind of makes it seem like I already had one and I was replacing it. I wasn't.) I got it at my all time favorite store, Target. To which I was happy to find they offered it in red. I have always liked red for kitchen items, even though most of mine are stainless steel. Either way we got this rice cooker & we finally used it last night. Why have I not owned this for the last ... ever? I didn't know that they cooked rice so well without having to hover over it and stir and could do more then rice, we have never been big rice eaters but since Mr. L. is on a "diet" we have sorta started thinking about rice, and steaming veggies. We bought this big wok last week and a bamboo steamer for it... now I wish I had bought this rice cooker before because it actually has a little steamer built in right above where it cooks the rice. Very convenient.
One of my friends has been telling me about how much she loves her rice cooker & then Mr. L was convinced when his friend at work said it is the most used appliance in his house (which I find hard to believe!!) So when it was Mr. L's idea... we got it. Oh by the way, it was ONLY $14.99. Cannot beat that price for a wonderful little appliance that is very attractive sitting on my counter... and hopefully used often too, right? By the way, it better prove useful & I am so glad its so little & attractive on the counter because I am running out of space to put things in my cupboards. Anyone who knows me knows that I don't even keep my toaster out on the counter and until recently the can opener wasn't something to be left out either... but I seemed to be getting a large collection of spices in my cupboard and the can opener was kicked out and moved to the counter-top.

The Urge To Purge

Anyone else ever get the "Urge To Purge?" (No, I am not talking about becoming bulimic or having a mad case of the flu!) I often just want to get rid of things, things I don't like, use etc. BUT! Something I have found about myself in the last well 2 or 3 years since having my own home really is, that, well I have issues. I feel the urge to purge not only when I have to many things and just flat out want to get rid of things but when I feel like I am broke financially, wish I had something I don't have, or even when I feel stressed out and mad. Now the things I get rid of are not all valueless to me or other... and probably someday soon I will wonder why I threw them out. (Like when I might realize I actually did want to brew a whole pot of coffee & not just use my Keurig machine.) Or I could have one super yard sale.
Funny thing is that I want more whether it be items or money, yet I am really throwing "it" (money) away. How is this sensible at all? I can't figure out why I do it, and I am probably not going to stop doing it either.

So please let me know that I am not alone in this crazy "dis-order" I seem to be having. Off to go purge something...

To Vacuum Or Not To Vacuum

Yesterday afternoon I pulled out the vacuum which by the way is getting heavier ( I am told by the Kirby salesman this means its getting close to time to change the bag! ugh!) then it should be & I began vacuuming through-out. I did the hard woods and then the rugs & because I had the hose attachment already on I vacuumed the pug. Guess what it he didn't like it & it made no difference in the length of time the floor stayed de-haired!
After vacuuming and then steam cleaning (with the shark steam mop! YEAH!) the floors I took Fenway out for his walk and puppy business time. As soon as he came in the door he ran in shuck his head and hair was EVERYWHERE!
I cannot keep my floors clean its shedding season. So to vacuum or not to vacuum? It feels like why bother... but I guess I will because if I don't there will be X2 tomorrow and X3 the next... Right?

A pug OUTDOOR bath is in store for this weekend. Hopefully will rid some of the winter fur he is leaving all over my house.

P.S. Thomasville Dark Espresso Hardwoods look GREAT when they are in the store or in a house that is not actually lived in. (We live in ours!!)

Tea For Three

After coming in very late last night from going out to the drive-in movies

The kids actually let us sleep "late" by late I do mean 8:02. But this is late with three kids and pug in the house.

So this morning I opened my eyes to find my little lady all dressed in a pink dress and brown leggings (all on her own!!!) standing at the edge of my bed with a silver tray with two blue tea cups from her set and a little people wedding cake in the middle. How sweet. I woke up Mr. L so he could see what our sweetest little lady had done for us. :) Then she pulled up the cake and under it was hidden her own little tea cup from her princess set. Tea For Three.

We drank our tea and ate our cake and she ran away happy as could be I tried to roll back over for just 5 more minutes of sleep... and then she returned with her tea pot full of water! There was no way I was drinking it, those cups have got to be dirty and with morning breathe water is just not my cup of tea. (ha!) With that it was time to get out of bed and start the day.

Chug a Chug a Choot-Choot

Emmas new favorite thing to do is wait on us to say "chug-a chug-a" so she can say in the cutest little voice I mom could hear "choot - choot." This choot - choot is almost a whistle of sorts, maybe even more like a whoot-whoot. Either way I am loving her little noise that she waits for our que to make!

Speaking of Chug-a Chug-a ... I am Chugging my coffee and I am out the door.
