Christmas 2013

What a wonderful Christmas we had in our NEW home. The kids woke early - but they did as told... don't wake mom & dad until 7! They waited until 7:03 - go them! Then Cody somehow managed to get a sliver in his foot. I proceeded to spend an entire hour trying to get it out. No avail. Ugh. We continued Christmas Day with it stuck in his foot. {Don't worry dad got it out later!}

 The littles got all things they wanted, needed, didn't want, you know the typical Christmas Morning.  I spent the entire day in my pajamas.  Win.  My sister and her little family came over for Christmas Lunch & Calvin was here.  Side note:  So excited that the sweet W family is coming to live in NC.

Successful Christmas Day friends.  Now to enjoy every. single. minute of the Christmas Break.
Happy Holidays!

Book Review {Candy and the Cankersaur by Jason Sandberg} And a Giveaway too!

Early this week I was contacted by Author & Artist Jason Sandberg to do a book review. What's even more fabulous is that he has offered to giveaway a copy to not one but FIVE of my amazing readers.  Yes!  What a perfect time for it to come, little miss Emma has been home sick for three days & she read this a time or two, ahem, by herself.  Mhmm.  My little can read.  And she loves it.

Of course I read the book over myself as soon as Jason sent it over, I thought it was super cute!  A fun & entertaining read.  Emma & I snuggled in on the couch the next morning & I read it to her.  By the second or third time the line..."the first rule no biting" came up Emma was saying it right along with me.  She then proceeded to read it again two plus times later that afternoon!  Its a hit.

-Wanna know what the book is all about?  You know besides how preciously cute that front cover is?  Well here it goes.  A daddy who is overworked buys his little girl Candy everything a girl could possibly want.  But she has a neighbor who is very competitive.  {Sound familiar?  "My room is bigger than your room!  "My bike has pink on it!"  All kids do it!} And he always try's to out due her.   Candy's dad thinks he knows what she needs, a companion.  Perhaps a pet? - yes - a dinosaur!  The competitive neighbor can't compete with that.  He steals & sells that dino off to the circus!  Once he realizes how sad Candy is they set off to find Cank, the dino together.  Seems all he wanted was to get Candy's attention.  It worked.  In the end Candy finds herself with more than one companion.

The pictures are crazy cute.  The wording is easy enough that my 6 year old was able to read alone.  Perfect. We recommend that you check out Jason Sandberg's website.  He has written a few kids books we will be sure to check out.  Emma has already asked for The New Crown

Candy and the Cankersaur
Ready to win your copy?  As with all of my giveaways its easy peasy. Follow the raffle copter app below.  The copy will be in PDF form from Amazon/Kindle.  Don't have a kindle?  No problem... you can view it on the kindle app for your smart phone.  If all else fails I am sure the wonderful Jason Sandberg will send you a copy via email. Just enter! You can't win if you don't enter. Good Luck.

What I Wore Wednesday

What a freezing morning we woke up to frost covering the ground. The roof tops were glistening. - Being that the sun, it was finally, at long last, shining. Oh. Joy.  Right as we were about to step out the door for our 5 minute walk up to the bus stop Mr. L pulled in and gave the littles a ride instead.  Of course being that they are hardcore and all they still hoped out of the car to wait outside with their friends.  Crazy kids.  I started my day off with a headache that had the potential to put me out for the whole day.  I killed it by looking good.  A cup of coffee & of course being awesome!  Speaking of coffee.  I might need another cup right about now.  I spent the morning out at the mall with my lil' sister & her toddler Ezra.  That will wear you out. ha.   I got fitted for a bra.  Turns out, I was wearing the right size all along.  I guess I could go down to a 30 D - but, they don't carry 30s in the store. Assholes.

Anyways, here is what I am wearing today.  And now its back to the machine.  Working on 12 teeny tiny monsters for some special lil' guys birthday!!!

Red Thermal Top by Old Navy - Dark Denim Skinny Jeans by Forever 21 - Green Boots by Rocket Dog {These things are crazy old, my kids think they are weird & they are "boots with the furr", but they are WARM and its cold out & I am a Mom and I am supposed to embarrass the kids!}

Right? - Heading out the door.  A little shopping at Target {it's work related!} Perhaps a drink at Starbucks & grabbing a sweater for my lil' guy Jack.  Family pictures are long over due.  How typical of me... Mr. L says I always say we are late getting them done & getting the Christmas Letters sent out.  Well. Hmph.  As long as its out by the first week of December we are good right? What I Wore Wednesday {da pugs yearly checkup}

Today has the potential to make me sweat. Panic. Get super angry. Feel bad. Or da pug will just be good. The vet will just do what she has to do & bot be a baby about it.  Da pug does not take kindly to being muzzled - as if he has a nose to muzzle.  Last year they drew out the process so ridiculously that we ended up having to put the cone on him just so that they could draw blood from him without him eating there arm off. He can be very ferocious.  So here's hoping...

What I Wore Wednesday

Good Morning Lovelies. I am wrapping up a chevron camera bag, in aqua chevron this morning. That is if I can get my fingers to function. This freezing weather we are having this morning called for mittens. I didn't have my mittens. Then I stood out there even longer catching up with the neighboor. - Last night the first flurries of the season fell from the sky. It's way to early for this crap. {Maybe not for you northern-ers. But in NC. Yes.}  Heading out with my sister this morning to do a little shopping.  Not the fun kind either. Groceries.   Well - here is what I am wearing today, not that anyone will see it, I'll be bundled up under a couple layers of fleece & a scarf.

Emma's Room

Emmas room was this very blue when we moved in... only thing was it had spaceships, planets & stars all over the walls. Not particularly girl friendly. But the blue we can keep. Atleast for now... We downgraded her to a twin bed - being that she had a full & big brother, Cody is quickly growing out of his twin.  Emma didn't mind.  All she wanted was a canopy So a canopy she gets.  We didn't want to break the bank & go all out on a canopy bed that she will eventually hate in the teen years... so this $16 netting did the trick. Amazon.  You can find everything on there.   Also Codys room was girly & had a castle on the wall.  I carefully peeled it down & put it up in Emmas room.  I think the finished project looks fabulous.  What do you think?
